Places beyond our rolling hills and starry skies

The Yorkshire Dales has so much to offer and so many places to explore.  Adventure is literally on your doorstep at Little Seed Field.

If you are planning to spend days exploring beyond Little Seed, you don’t have to travel far to find some world class places to visit. Here are some of our top recommendations for during your stay…

Go Stargazing!

Go Stargazing!

The whole of the Yorkshire Dales is a designated Dark Sky Reserve. It’s the largest place to see stars in the UK. And here, you needn’t be an astrophysicist to enjoy the wonder of a truly dark sky – you can see over 2,000 just with the naked eye. Welcome to nature’s disco ball, a brightly twinkling canopy!

We are proud to be a Dark Sky Friendly business and are passionate about reducing light pollution and protecting and promoting our dark skies. We run events throughout the observation season (October to March) and work closely with the Yorkshire Dark Skies Festival and Go Stargazing to promote and share our skies.

Go Walking!

Up hill and down Dale: there are so many Yorkshire Dales walking routes that you are spoilt for choice. We’ve listed some of our local favourites, and you can find many more on the Visit Nidderdale website.

Find an Adventure!

North Yorkshire is home to many wonderful privately and National Trust-owned sites. Newby Hall, the Himalayan Gardens, Brimham Rocks and Fountains Abbey, to name a few. Couples and families can immerse themselves in history, architecture, art, sculpture and artistically designed gardens and playgrounds. And don’t forget to visit their cafés - we do love a good piece of cake and a cup of Yorkshire tea!

Lightwater Valley & The Forbidden corner

Lightwater Valley and The Forbidden Corner are two local attractions offering plenty of high-octane fun in natural North Yorkshire surroundings. Lightwater Valley is a theme park for under 12s with a crazy golf range and designer shopping experience. Forbidden Corner is a whimsical, Alice-in-Wonderland-style outdoor (underground) adventure playground. Neither attraction sells tickets at the gate, so please book in advance.

Beer, Markets and Distilleries

Pateley Bridge, Masham and Ripon are pretty market towns with excellent local, independent produce, just a 10-minute drive from Little Seed Field. If you’re considering eating out, Masham is home to the Black Sheep and Theakston’s Breweries which offer tours, great beer and hearty dining.  If gin and whiskey are your thing then the unique Whittakers distillery is definitely for you!
