Calling all Wander Women

Solo travel & Self care

26 Jan 2025

As a busy working mum, with two growing boys and hectic farm and family life, I sometimes feel like there's never a moment to pause.  Moreso, as I am getting older, and I start to think about who I will be when my children no longer rely on me as much.  It raises all sorts of questions for me about identity, relationships and life beyond being a mum.

For me, the demands of family, farm life and running a small, independent business have really given my mental and physical health a kicking recently.  This has sent me off on a path to discover how I can reclaim the balance and structure I need to return to the best version of me.

I am a reader!  So, cue lots of books about manifestation and visualisation but also lots of online searching for inspiration and guidance on where to start.  As part of the process I am going through, I have discovered how much peace and gratitude I gain from time on my own in nature.  Finding a spot in the grass, or fields or by the ponds and allowing nature to surround me, helps me to create the mental space I need to breath and tune back into my visualisations.

Through my online research I have found this group of adventurous, solo travellers known as ‘Wander Women’.  Now, these are my kind of people!  Cool women who are taking time out for themselves to have wild adventures, peaceful retreats and explore new places for themselves.  I feel so lucky that I can do a tiny bit of that on my own here at Little Seed Field, but I have now added a few more things on to my manifest board 😉

So, now I’m thinking, how can I connect Little Seed Field to this group of superhero women?  Wouldn’t it be great if a woman’s journey into solo travel and selfcare in the wild started here, at Little Seed Field?

I don’t mean with a cliché retreat with organised fun and scheduled me time.  I mean, share Little Seed Field as place to digitally detox.  A safe place where you just book a cabin, bring your walking boots, grab a book and just be.  A place where you can practice yoga without interruptions, work on your manifest board or simply light a fire, watch the stars, have a great nights sleep and BREATH.

So, if this is you and you are looking for that space and you are unable to find it at home, please drop me an email!  I can advise you on how to prepare, what to bring and you can let me know you are coming alone.  I can even put you in touch with our fabulous coach J-K, who can share with you details of her guided practice sessions in the woods, if you are looking for a way to delve deeper.

Solo travel as a woman is empowering and energizing and revitalizing.  I absolutely do not mean that in a condescending way.  I mean it to inspire and encourage and give a little nudge to just try it once and see how it makes you feel!

And just in case you want to know (and because I think many of us find it hard to do it), my current top three selfcare goals for my own accountability are:

  1. Finish reading ‘Manifest’ by Roxie Nafousi & complete my manifest board
  2. Book my place on the visualisation retreat in May at The Acorn Retreat
  3. Stop procrastinating about going on a ‘Gutsy Girls’ holiday on my own in Norway and GET IT BOOKED

If you want to email someone yours, as a form of accountability to yourself, just pop them to me in an email and I will send you a massive high five (and quite possibly a discounted stay in one of my cabins)!

FINALLY - if you are looking for some free coaching or inspiration for selfcare in nature, please sign up to this wonderful newsletter from J-K.  It's free and completely fabulous!!!
