I recently read an article called ‘Top 40 Questions to Ask Your Wedding Venue’, and it got me thinking…
We choose to only host a small number of weddings each year to retain the uniqueness of our venue, and most of these weddings take place between May and September. HOWEVER, most of our wedding venue viewings take place between October and March! Which means, when you view our venue in winter, it is likely to look very different to how it will look on your wedding day in the summer.
So, these are my top tips for what to consider when viewing our venue in winter with a view to having your big day in the summer…there are 4, not 40!
The first one is obvious – it will (should) be warmer in the summer! Don’t be put off if you’re planning a summer festival vibe but you need a big coat on your venue tour. Remember, the days are longer, the sun is higher in the sky, and it does get warm in Yorkshire in the summer.
Second – viewing your wedding venue on a rubbish weather day is a good thing. If you love it in the wet and wild you will love it on a warm, sunny day. BUT, more importantly, you can picture and plan for how it will be if it rains on your big day – if you truly embrace the unpredictability of the UK weather by building it into your theme, you will relax and your guests will relax and you will all have a jolly good time!
Third – flowers, scenery, colours and landscape will all change! In the winter the land is not as full of life as it is in the warmer months – flowers are not in bloom in the baskets, the grass is not that deep vibrant green and there may not be any leaves on the trees. In the warmer months, the opposite it true – think lush green grass, blossom, big leafy trees and birdsong…
Fourth and finally – seek out photographs (or ask for us to share some with you) of how our venue looks at the time of year you a planning your big day for…this will help you to picture where you would like to spend your day and where you might choose those all-important private couple shots to be located!
I am here to help every step of the way! It will be me that shows you around and me that is there with you on the big day and you can ask me as many questions as you like.
My view is that your venue tour should be about connecting with a space (and a host) that could feel special for you. A place where you will feel most relaxed and comfortable on a day that is designed and destined to be all about you and the love you share for each other!
